Requirements


  • experience of working at Adviser level in professional services, ideally within the legal sector
  • previous Early Careers experience, ideally gained from a law firm
  • strong team player
  • ability to build strong internal and external relationships
  • excellent organisation skills
  • highly skilled on all MS Office applications
  • ability to be flexible to meet the demands of the work
  • A degree or equivalent professional qualification or relevant experience in a Higher Education context or similar is essential
  • experience working with students or graduates in an advisory capacity and excellent communication skills is key
  • you will have experience supporting students and graduates with employability issues, using empathy and listening skills and designing and delivering workshops
  • this part-time post is available from 20 May 2024 on a fixed term basis to 3 March 2025
  • an excellent opportunity has arisen for a Careers Adviser to provide careers and employability support to students, recent graduates and staff in one-to-one guidance, group workshops and online settings
  • you will provide one to one appointments for advice on CVs, applications and interview techniques as well as longer guidance appointments for UEA students, graduates and apprentices
  • there will be opportunity to design and deliver career management workshops and skills training and attend and present at appropriate employer and sector-focused meetings as part of our centrally delivered programme

  • you will provide advice on CVs, applications and interview techniques and work proactively and creatively to promote and develop employability
  • A degree or equivalent professional qualification or experience in a Higher Education context or similar is essential
  • experience working with students or graduates in an advisory capacity and forging effective working relationships is key
  • experience of data management and graduate recruitment would be advantageous
  • you will deliver career management workshops and events as part of Faculty and central professional development programmes and work with academic and other staff to develop student employability, including designing and delivering employability related activities within academic Schools and throughout the University

Responsibility


  • maintaining contact with future Trainees
  • key point of contact for law school regarding students
  • assisting with the firm's transition to the SQE
  • ensuring any Visas are in place for new joiners
  • responsible for onboarding of new Trainee Solicitors
  • ensuring all SRA registration is completed for all Trainees
  • designing, planning and facilitating the Trainee induction programme every six months
  • managing international secondments, including visas and other administration
  • working with international offices to put in place all arrangements for in-bound secondees
  • coordinating Trainee Solicitor mid and end of seat appraisals
  • liaising with L&D and Knowledge Management teams to identify training needs
  • lead on the firm’s graduate recruitment and development initiatives
  • develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, both internal and external
  • develop effective and innovative recruitment and selection processes
  • manage the recruitment and selection process, including interviewing and shortlisting
  • produce reports and presentations on a regular basis
  • design and deliver development programmes for graduates
  • ensure compliance with relevant legislation
  • provide advice and guidance to the wider team regarding recruitment and development
  • assist with the onboarding process for new recruits
