Requirements


  • mechanical, Electrical or Building Services related University degree or equivalent
  • working knowledge of Data Center operations
  • working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and life safety monitoring and control systems typically used in critical environments
  • ability to read blueprints/CAD drawings
  • A level education or ONC, HNC/D diploma or equivalent
  • three year’s experience in facility management supervision required
  • five year’s experience in a data center or other Critical Environment preferred
  • seven years Journeyman level HVAC or Electrical experience preferred
  • build effective relationships with the council’s Building Services provider , Property colleagues and the wider council
  • monitor planned and reactive works progress against performance targets on a frequent and regular basis
  • with the BSP, manage the future works programme
  • seek opportunities to value-engineer solutions and be vigilant to the council's strategic asset management plan when considering works programmes
  • work with senior FM management and the council's consultants to achieve effective transition of the current building services arrangements
  • audit and review building services delivery, management and costs to instigate improvement programmes and backlog works programmes with the BSP
  • line manage the Minor Works Project / Compliance Lead, to ensure highest levels of building works and statutory compliance are met and maintained
  • leading a team of Deputy Maintenance Managers, Engineers, technicians and contractors
  • maintenance: 10 years
  • although you probably won't need to get your hands dirty too often, the role will suit somebody that can be hands-on with the technical knowledge to direct and manage the team accordingly
  • assemble and analyse contract variations, submit recommendations and prepare the standard form contract agreement for the Commercial Manager
  • previous experience in a PMO/project management role on a complex programme

Responsibility


  • manage minor/major facility projects and administer site support systems
  • develop and deploy training materials for staff
  • inspect buildings, grounds, and equipment for unsafe or malfunctioning conditions
  • troubleshoot, evaluate, and recommend system upgrades
  • solicit proposals for outsourced work via line management
  • work with vendors and contractors to ensure their work meets Datacentre & client standards
  • manage all maintenance regimes for all sites with the current tool M5000
  • provide on-site support of client critical systems infrastructure equipment
  • manage equipment vendors and maintenance contractors
  • ensure strict adherence to critical environment work rules and safety procedures
