Comment on the job position of design and development engineer

Requirements


  • HNC or equivalent with engineering related discipline in component design
  • previous automotive design and development experience
  • prior knowledge of interior cabin parts / modules
  • prior knowledge of manufacturing processes
  • valid driving licence and able to travel globally Valid UK/European driving license
  • happy to travel, within UK and abroad if required
  • design / engineering qualification - BEng / BSc or equivalent
  • degree or an equivalent combination of experience and training in mechanical or related discipline
  • CAD interrogation skills - Preferred with NX but not essential
  • A good command of mechanical engineering fundamentals in a manufacturing environment
  • time management skills
  • drive and flexibility to maintain pace of work as priorities and customer requirements change
  • the ability to communicate designs effectively through written and verbal methods
  • A strong team player and the ability to produce high quality output with attention to detail
  • ● Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degree is a plus
  • ● Proven experience in the design and development of medical devices
  • ● Familiarity with relevant regulatory standards and quality management systems
  • ● Proficiency in CAD software and other design tools. Preferably Autodesk Inventor
  • ● Familiarity with electronic design drawings and PCB design processes is an advantage
  • ● Experience with plastic manufacturing processes, including injection molding and 3D printing

Responsibility


  • 3D CAD design and modelling to develop relevant components during digital development
  • data management of relevant 3D data during digital development
  • support cost down studies
  • creation of study assemblies to support design requirements
  • preparation of Engineering release packs
  • production of 2D Cad drawings where applicable
  • contribute towards the development, implementation of Engineering Policy and Processes
  • contribute to the reporting on Engineering performance metrics
  • responsible for delivery of their own development plan and the development of their direct reports
  • be customer focused on delivery of goals, at pace

  • be responsible for the delivery of agreed business, people and process improvement activities
  • function: Product design and development
  • support the development of customer solutions as required to achieve sales
  • support technical liaison between the airline, manufacturers, equipment vendors and regulatory bodies
  • compiling and/or approving design and maintenance documentation under the organisation's CAA Part 21, Subpart J and Part 145 approvals
  • provide engineering technical support to FTM specialism teams as departmental workload demands
  • development of business cases to deliver value adding initiatives
  • representing the company on a technical basis, at industry working groups, meetings and conferences
  • continuous improvement challenges to all business processes and procedures that support the management of the Cabin Development team including procedural documentation as required
