Requirements

  • A PhD in bioinformatics/machine learning or equivalent technical experience
  • bioinformatics experience, especially mining genomes - essential
  • proficient in Python and/or R - essential
  • knowledge of a second complimentary coding language - highly desirable
  • fresh bioinformaticsPhD graduates with no machine learning experience ~£45,000
  • machine Learning experience - desirable
  • £5000-£18,000 share options granted per year, for 3 years, depending on experience
  • 10% annual bonus for hitting targets
  • phD or equivalent degree in computational biology, bioinformatics, or a related field
  • expertise in protein bioinformatics and computational modelling
  • strong programming skills in Python, R, and/or other relevant languages
  • experience with data visualization, statistical analysis, and machine learning techniques
  • excellent knowledge in Computational Biology and its application to Proteins
  • knowledge of relevant databases, tools, and algorithms for protein sequence and structure analysis
  • strong programming experience within R and Python
  • familiarity with NGS data analysis and RNA sequencing
  • strong communication skills, both written and verbal

Responsibility


  • to work with others to automate our wet lab workflow
  • occasionally trying out some wet lab work to test some of your tools and workflows
  • to assist the wet lab team by designing DNA constructs for gene synthesis/cloning
  • planning and designing experiments
  • assisting with data analysis, presentation and interpretation
  • develop your own machine learning tools and other proprietary computational tools for speeding up our plant disease resistance gene discovery and resurrection pipeline
  • working 35 hours a week, usually 5 days per week
  • act as a subject matter expert for structural virology / biology research questions
  • project management and research leadership, including prioritising and setting timelines for multiple projects
  • modelling protein-protein interactions
  • analyse and design bespoke protein structures
  • help design and optimise antigen design for variant-proof vaccine development
  • generate Standard Operation Procedures for the assay and associated procedures, ensuring processes are reproducible
  • collaborate with cross-department teams to support ongoing research projects
  • work independently to establish a validated method for detecting viruses on food items in line with ISO testing methods
  • ensure compliance with ISO 17025 quality procedures, documenting deviations and non-conformances in line with established procedures
