degree or equivalent: Mechanical Engineering
engineering tools: GD&T, FMEA
have an excellent knowledge of developing design and technical workshop production drawings and detailed product specifications
have an excellent understanding of materials and manufacturing techniques with experience in design to manufacture processes
developing product collections from design and prototyping through to production and assembly
have excellent spatial awareness to put forward well balanced design and technical solutions for products with impeccable attention to detail
creation of material cut lists and or component for workshop production and assembly
managing and maintaining CAD drawings and technical documentation
educated to at least HND level in Mechanical Engineering / Design
3D CAD experience, preferably Solidworks, but other systems will be considered

in this position you will control several product ranges and be responsible for the documentation of the product including technical drawings, specifications, material specifications, 2D & 3D CAD with technical drawings, designing for manufacture, testing & certification, constructing BOM information, product specification matrices, training materials, technical documentation and technical drafting for supporting product documentation
providing technical product support to contract engineers, admin staff and field service engineers
liaising with the Test and Development Manager on manufacturing aspects of new product design
identifying and evaluating product shortfalls and formulate recommendations for improvement
monitoring and investigating product failures and warranty issues to determine root cause failure and identify future preventative measures
assisting procurement with identification and evaluation of new component suppliers
liaising with suppliers to address any warranty, performance, and quality issues
identifying and implementing improved working practises in the workshop
supervising day to day operation of the workshop and providing technical support and guidance to the team
identifying test procedures to verify correct operation of products
prepare production packs with workshop instructions
creating BOMs from design drawings and processing on Sage
