  • relevant degree in IT
  • knowledge of active directory
  • ability to trouble shoot and resolve issues
  • extensive experience of precision manufacturing gained either in a production, prototyping or instrument making setting
  • extensive experience using workshop related precision measuring equipment
  • BSc in ecology, geography, or earth/environmental science
  • A bachelor’s degree in a related field, OR 2 A levels in relevant subjects, with equivalent vocational qualifications/work experience
  • experience conducting fieldwork
  • ability to communicate clearly, collaborate effectively within diverse groups, and deliver progress by mutually agreed deadlines
  • experience operating an elemental analyser or gas chromatograph
  • A clean driver’s licence, and willingness to travel to our Welsh field site monthly
  • test|Scientific|Laboratory
  • previous experience working in a laboratory preferred but not essential
  • experience of management and handling of biological substances
  • working in a multi-disciplinary environment, with visitors and scientists
  • you will have the ability to work on own initiative with good planning and organising skills, along with good IT skills in MS Office software
  • preferably Degree educated in Metallurgy/Materials Science, at minimum HND or extensive experience required
  • ideally have technical knowledge of lost wax casting process, and thermal processing and Ni & Co base superalloys

Responsibility


  • reading, reviewing and complying with related SOPs and risk assessments
  • handling human tissue specimens in compliance with local SOPs and Human Tissue Authority
  • assist with the organisation and execution of Medical Education activities. • Required to carry out any reasonable requests to perform other duties as may be required within the scope of the job title

  • monitoring and supplying stock for labs, health and safety and presentation to ensure high quality environment for lab sessions
  • ensure that all cadaveric material is acquired, stored, used and disposed of in accordance with the codes of practice defined by the Human Tissue Authority
  • ensuring optimum specimen usage by harvesting parts wherever possible and ensuring traceability for further processing
  • to contribute to the development, growth, strategic direction and operational effectiveness of the Rosalind Franklin Laboratory
  • to deliver on key performance indicators, aiming for continuous improvement
  • to proactively promote excellence in Health and Safety, EDI and Safeguarding and to promote and support the well-being of all colleagues
  • to complete and remain up to date with all mandatory training, seeking continuous professional development where appropriate
  • to participate positively in the Rosalind Franklin Laboratory’s performance review scheme as updated from time to time
  • to actively promote the Rosalind Franklin Laboratory with agencies, partners, stakeholders, sector bodies, schools and the local community, developing effective partnerships with all bodies
