  • city & Guilds Level 3 is essential

  • previous Management experience within a similar environment for over 2 years, including experience on HGVs
  • experience of working within the airport or transport industry
  • excellent communication and People Management experience
  • full UK Manual driving license
  • customer service experience
  • strong electrical engineering background
  • previous experience working for an engineering repair company
  • the company are specialists in electrical and mechanical repairs of electric motors, transformers, generators, alternators and other electro-mechanical equipment
  • strong sense of urgency
  • leadership: 1 year
  • excellent leadership skills?
  • relevant Technical Qualification – HGV IMI Level 3
  • educated to GCSE level or equivalent
  • UK Driving License
  • significant operational experience in the repair and maintenance of motor vehicles
  • significant experience managing multi-disciplined teams
  • working effectively with internal and external stakeholders
  • extensive knowlege and application of health and safety principals

Responsibility


  • to carry out other reasonable duties as required
  • safety Leader: Ensure compliance with legal and safety standards, including DfT regulations, while leading risk assessments and mitigating potential issues
  • to take reasonable care of the health and safety of themselves and of others who may be affected by their actions or omissions
  • to report accidents or potential accidents through the RIDDOR reporting process
  • manage a consistent application of established people policies and procedures including Performance Management, Absence Management and Disciplinary & Grievance
  • ensure efficient use of labour resource through the management of planned leave and training; monitoring break times, timekeeping and attendance
  • ensure work-in-progress is managed, chasing outstanding parts & subcontractors for prompt delivery
  • ensure service and repairs are carried out to the highest standards of quality possible to ensure customer satisfaction
  • ensure efficient use of materials, equipment and labour resources
  • build strong relationships with the company and customers and have a strong understanding of warranty processes
  • actively coach and support the service team to develop individual competencies
  • develop training plans for all technical personnel and play an active role with development
  • ensure Health and Safety procedures are observed and maintained at all times
  • budget control and P&L management
  • ordering parts and comparing prices
  • scheduling the fleet vehicle maintenance - approximately 7 PMI's and 1 MOT a week, plus any defects
  • they will oversee/carryout the servicing of the machinery and associated workshop equipment and keep appropriate records
  • to maintain the cleanliness, tidiness and orderliness of workshops and curtilage areas applying and developing a lean management culture
  • ideally the post holder will hold a health and safety qualification, or be willing to work towards one
  • the Workshop Manager will ensure provision of safe and healthy workshops, stores, chemicals, materials and associated equipment to include the issue of machinery
