  • proven experience as an MOT tester/ Mechanic, preferably in a garage or workshop setting
  • strong knowledge of vehicle systems and components
  • ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • excellent problem-solving skills
  • relevant qualifications such as NVQ Level 3 in Motor Vehicle Maintenance or City and Guilds 4 equivalent would be advantageous

  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification in Motor Vehicle Repair
  • successful completion of a Recognised apprenticeship in Motor Vehicle Repair
  • hold Driver CPC Qualification or have the ability to achieve it
  • hold a Full Car Driving Licence
  • hold a Fork Truck operators Licence or have the ability to achieve it
  • knowledge and understanding of modern-day vehicle diagnostic equipment, i.e. Snap On, Jaltest, TEXA
  • must be fully qualified Mechanic/Technician
  • ability to tackle all aspects of vehicle repair and maintenance

Responsibility


  • dealing with our customers, explaining work that needs to be done on their vehicles and quoting accordingly
  • conduct routine maintenance on vehicles, such as oil changes and tyre rotations
  • diagnose and repair mechanical issues on various types of vehicles
  • perform vehicle inspections to identify potential problems and ensure roadworthiness
  • use diagnostic equipment to troubleshoot complex vehicle issues
  • MOT testing and keeping accurate records of all maintenance and repair work
  • inspect, diagnose and repair the fleet of vehicles and mobile plant to ensure they operate in a safe and reliable condition
  • actively coach and mentor apprentices, colleagues and others to assist in knowledge transfer and strengthening of the site Motor Mechanic capability
  • give advice, guidance and share knowledge and experience within the department
  • liaise and work with Contractors to achieve effective and efficient working
  • record effective maintenance history, and as signatory take legal responsibility for all maintenance activities completed in accordance with Operator Licensing and site procedures to ensure regulations are met
  • inspect and prepare all vehicles legally required to complete an MOT Test prior to testing at a DVSA appointed test centre, to ensure a ‘First Time Pass Rate’ to maintain the OCRS Score
  • attend and actively take part in all work meetings giving advice and guidance on areas of knowledge and expertise
  • to work unsupervised and independently or in a small team, using own knowledge, skill, initiative and judgement to safely progress work, referring to a line manager or a relevant Subject Matter Expert if necessary to resolve complex situations
  • follow and fully complete the required Maintenance Inspection checklists, as per the work packs provided by the Team Leader, noting all defects and required maintenance to ensure quality service standards are achieved
  • to carry out vehicle servicing and repairs to all makes and models of light vehicle & LCV
  • to carry out MOT testing – qualification required
  • to ensure customer satisfaction in the service and repair of vehicles – both private and Commercial
  • to employ technical knowledge and skills in all areas of service / repair / fault finding & diagnostics
  • to identify & report any current / future vehicle faults and servicing requirements whilst working on vehicles
