  • "Ecologist" and "biodiversity"
  • the ability to speak/write Welsh would make a great addition to your application, but it is not essential for this role

Responsibility


  • assurance work - undertake 'critical friend' review of ecology and Biodiversity Net Gain reports and proposals provided to Capital Delivery Southern by the supply chain and their ecological consultants; carry out ecology-focussed site inspections and liaise with Environment Managers and Project Manager as appropriate to deliver continual improvement in relation to ecology and biodiversity; undertake monitoring and assure that schemes deliver biodiversity benefits and enhancements in line with NR policy and standards
  • to provide professional ecological advice, direction and support to Transport for Wales and our partners regarding the assessment, impact and mitigation of our operations on ecology and biodiversity
  • provide direct ecological support and assurance to multidisciplinary project teams, delivery partners and contractors including review of internal and external documents, data and reports, to ensure accordance with relevant environmental legislation, policy and best practice
  • be responsible for production of technical reports and providing assurance including production, input and review of technical reports, mitigation strategies, assessments and procedures including PEAs, impact assessments and management plans to ensure compliance and quality control
  • project management including programming, coordination and review of internal and external ecological related works as and when required to ensure works are compliant, correctly priced, delivered on time and to budget
  • undertake site, species and habitat surveys as required to ensure compliance with relevant legislation, policy and best practice and related documents
  • undertake and complete a range of Ecological field surveys, including protected species surveys and extended Phase 1 Habitat Surveys
  • provide support and guidance in aspects of ecological conservation
  • have an awareness and understanding of habitat management and wildlife legislations
  • undertake ecological surveying and logistics planning at a variety of sites, as required
  • produce Preliminary Ecological Assessments
  • assist with Ecological Impact Assessments and Habitat Regulations Assessments and feedback findings
  • assist/lead on protected species surveys and reports, depending on experience/survey licenses, and feedback findings
  • assist with/undertake ecological data collation, analysis, monitoring and reporting
  • support the professional development of junior ecologists within the team
  • provide regular updates to colleagues and the Environment Manager, keeping them informed of works and progress
  • undertake training as required by your manager or the Company
  • adhere to Company Policies and Procedures
  • assist with/lead on protected species/habitat mitigation measures, depending on experience and survey licences. Support/lead on implementation, monitoring and evaluation of measures as agreed, providing periodic updates
