  • senior Youth Worker/Senior Youth Justice Officer: 1 year
  • gangs/Crimes/Bullying/Drugs: 1 year
  • borough Of/Councils/Council/Local Authority: 1 year
  • SEN/Special Education Needs: 1 year
  • professional qualification relevant to Social care, Health, Education, Police, Probation and a record of continuous professional development
  • minimum of 12 months Youth Justice or Probation Service Experience
  • experience working with young people on an individual or group basis
  • flexible working pattern including evenings/weekend work
  • able to travel through the borough
  • ability to plan and deliver responsive early help 11-19 work programmes
  • previous experience in youth work or related field is preferred
  • experience working with children or adolescents in educational or mentoring settings
  • knowledge of special education principles is a plus
  • strong communication and interpersonal skills

Responsibility


  • constantly assessing the young person’s support plans, health plans and risk assessments
  • ensure that young person’s care plans are followed so young people have as much control over their future as possible
  • assist young people to maximise their finances effectively and to develop their budgeting skills
  • ensuring that all young person’s personal records are kept up to date
  • accurately completing the young person’s daily logs
  • attending meetings with young people and other inter-agencies
  • assisting young people to create CVs and to find employment
  • encouraging young people to engage with education and to assist finding relevant educational opportunities
  • make sure the young person’s medical and health needs are met by assisting with medical, dental, optician appointments
  • you will support/ manage in the planning and delivery of projects that focus on issues like health, bullying, transitions, sexuality/ gender, crime, gangs, or drugs including community and social events for the young people
  • help design and organise activity programmes that engage young people into informal educational programs and youth recreational activities such as sports, arts and drama whilst assessing young people’s health, social and emotional requirements
  • responsible for ensuring through early planning that a varied offer of fun youth activities and programmes are consistently available for the cohort including, but not limited to, accredited programmes, one-to-one work, group work, volunteering
  • directly line manage staff allocated to the designated projects ensuring that, using the Council's performance development and review scheme, they are regularly supervised, subject to performance monitoring, and that appropriate development and training opportunities are identified for them and addressed
  • coordinate, develop and deliver projects across the borough as directed, ensuring that they are effectively set up, maintained, and operated to provide, using a variety of methods centre based, universal and targeted youth activities and programmes, that enable the formal and informal learning and personal and social development of children and young people aged 11 + and up to 25 with SEND
  • I.e
  • children looked after, Young Carers or those with behavioural issues
  • support the Student Services team to deliver a variety of 'Awareness Workshops' to groups of students
  • play a key role in engaging with students around the campus in both an informal and formal basis, to ensure that the students are attending lessons and that social spaces, corridors and other communal areas in the College are safe and welcoming and that students maintain reasonable standards of behaviour
  • plan and supervise enjoyable enrichment sessions and other recreational activities, such as sport, art, drama etc., that are accessed predominately by 16-18 year-old learners to increase young people's skills and confidence
  • provide additional 1-2-1 support to a group of learners in terms of their attendance and punctuality, or with specific issues, such as within support groups or targeted projects
