Requirements


  • senior Youth Worker/Senior Youth Justice Officer: 1 year
  • gangs/Crimes/Bullying/Drugs: 1 year
  • borough Of/Councils/Council/Local Authority: 1 year
  • SEN/Special Education Needs: 1 year
  • professional qualification relevant to Social care, Health, Education, Police, Probation and a record of continuous professional development
  • minimum of 12 months Youth Justice or Probation Service Experience
  • experience working with young people on an individual or group basis
  • flexible working pattern including evenings/weekend work
  • able to travel through the borough
  • ability to plan and deliver responsive early help 11-19 work programmes
  • previous experience working with children or youth in educational or mentoring roles
  • knowledge of special education practices is a plus
  • ability to educate and engage children in meaningful activities
  • strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in supporting youth development
  • youth Offending Service Worker
  • experience of youth work and delivering high quality youth services in an inner-city environment
  • experience of case work and working with young people with emotional, mental health and well-being support needs
  • experience of partnership working in service delivery
  • experience of communicating at all levels

Responsibility


  • you will support/ manage in the planning and delivery of projects that focus on issues like health, bullying, transitions, sexuality/ gender, crime, gangs, or drugs including community and social events for the young people
  • help design and organise activity programmes that engage young people into informal educational programs and youth recreational activities such as sports, arts and drama whilst assessing young people’s health, social and emotional requirements
  • responsible for ensuring through early planning that a varied offer of fun youth activities and programmes are consistently available for the cohort including, but not limited to, accredited programmes, one-to-one work, group work, volunteering
  • directly line manage staff allocated to the designated projects ensuring that, using the Council's performance development and review scheme, they are regularly supervised, subject to performance monitoring, and that appropriate development and training opportunities are identified for them and addressed
  • coordinate, develop and deliver projects across the borough as directed, ensuring that they are effectively set up, maintained, and operated to provide, using a variety of methods centre based, universal and targeted youth activities and programmes, that enable the formal and informal learning and personal and social development of children and young people aged 11 + and up to 25 with SEND
  • I.e
  • children looked after, Young Carers or those with behavioural issues
  • support the Student Services team to deliver a variety of 'Awareness Workshops' to groups of students
  • play a key role in engaging with students around the campus in both an informal and formal basis, to ensure that the students are attending lessons and that social spaces, corridors and other communal areas in the College are safe and welcoming and that students maintain reasonable standards of behaviour
  • plan and supervise enjoyable enrichment sessions and other recreational activities, such as sport, art, drama etc., that are accessed predominately by 16-18 year-old learners to increase young people's skills and confidence
  • provide additional 1-2-1 support to a group of learners in terms of their attendance and punctuality, or with specific issues, such as within support groups or targeted projects
  • provide signposting to various internal or external agencies who support young people. For example, housing, counselling, job searching grants and benefits
  • maintain accurate records of information relating to learners and provide data in order to monitor student participation, progress, achievement and outcomes
  • support young people to make positive changes in their lives and help them to develop, action plans in order for them to build resilience, develop new skills and achieve their learning potential
  • proactively promote, encourage and work with students around the "Learner Voice" to ensure students have a sense of investment in the life of the College through providing support for Course Representatives, the Student Council and the general student population to engage and participate with learner voice events and activities
  • be part of the Colleges Safeguarding Team, to identify learners and vulnerable adults at risk of child protection and serious harm and work with external agencies, such as Social Services, Police etc. to keep them safe
  • provide guidance, support, and mentorship to youth in various settings
  • plan and implement educational and recreational activities for children
  • assist in creating a safe and nurturing environment for youth participants
  • collaborate with other team members to develop and execute programs that meet the needs of the youth
