  • experience of working in a transport environment, ideally within Transport Planning
  • excellent understanding of manual transport planning

Responsibility


  • work closely with the operations to ensure vehicles and trailers are available to support the transport requirement
  • manually route plan for our fleet of 23 vehicles daily, ensuring driver hour regulation are met
  • track daily deliveries using the in-house vehicle tracking systems
  • fully utilise all vehicles to ensure accurate and appropriate allocation of drivers ,vehicles, trailers, customer deliveries & trunking and backhaul
  • to develop Organisation's long term sustainable travel strategy / plan
  • to also assist with other Transport planning matters
  • to undertake site visits borough-wide in all seasons to undertake the necessary assessments when developing strategies and proposals
  • the post holder may also be required to work on other areas of transport planning and policy and on the delivery of sustainable transport projects
  • to promote the projects and activities of the team to the wider council, its partners and external organisations including the development industry, other public bodies, business organisations and community associations to raise the teams’ profile and attract new business
  • to undertake analysis and make recommendations to the Project Managers and Future Merton Manager and others as required enabling budget allocation and effective resource management
  • to guide the Policy Monitoring Officer in identifying research and monitoring requirements for transport policy issues, including those relating to the effective delivery, monitoring and review of the Local Implementation Plan and other sustainable transport projects
  • our local authority client has a 10-month contract vacancy for the role of a TRANSPORT POLICY PLANNER, details as follows
  • responsible for negotiating
  • commissioning, supervision, co-ordination and management
  • 1.5 Where appropriate, assisting in the supervision of staff, recruitment and in
  • outside the Council, co-ordinating diverse inputs to complex projects and acting as a single point of contact and arranging and chairing meetings
  • supervise and manage the work of other officers
  • prepare reports and to present those reports at Council meetings, Committees and Subcommittees of the Council as required
  • commission and carry out traffic, transport, kerbside and air quality studies including the collection, collation, analysis and reporting of data and findings
  • manage individual scheme budgets up to £500k or several smaller schemes in the region of £150k and ensure all cost, scope, quality and time constraints are achieved
