  • either Degree qualified but HND/HNC level qualification in an Engineering discipline with extensive practical design experience in outfitting and ship design
  • ideally Degree qualified but HND/HNC level qualification in an engineering discipline with extensive experience in relevant field will be considered
  • you will be a member of a relevant institution and hold Chartered status
  • either already UK Security cleared or able for achieve UK SC clearance
  • experience in the naval/marine industry
  • proven structural design experience from a highly regulated industry
  • experience of using a variety of Naval Architecture design packages e.g. 2D & 3D CAD, stability
  • experience with appropriate analytical software such as stability software ,FEA, CFD and CAD

Responsibility


  • on a daily basis your responsibilities will include supporting Submarines through life maintenance management and optimisation. This role has hybrid working opportunities with travel to Bristol on a weekly basis
  • design characteristics of floating production and storage systems, their operational limits and their applicable areas of operation
  • how metocean conditions impact operational limits for transportation, installation and operation of marine and floating offshore systems / structures
  • rules, regulations and industry best practice applicable to design, transport, installation and operation of floating structures and associated marine systems
  • the methods and techniques associated with establishing the motion response of floating systems / structures and applied knowledge of analysis techniques available
  • principles of asset integrity and life extension assessment / strategy development
  • structural failure modes and the impact these may have on the ability of marine and offshore systems / structures to operate safely
  • key stages in decommissioning floating structures / systems and associated infrastructure
  • riser systems available for production / storage units and their interface with marine systems / structures, including turret / mooring systems design and operation
  • transportation and installation methodologies / techniques for mooring systems, production / storage / offloading units, topsides modules and riser systems
  • the application of analysis techniques, including finite element structural analysis when applied to floating structures, and the principles of model testing and scale effects
  • wholeship Integration, involving Engineering support through build
