Requirements

relevant qualification in Learning Support or a related field
experience working with students with SEND in an educational setting, preferably within a college environment
understanding of various SEND conditions and effective strategies to support individual needs
strong communication and interpersonal skills
your CV must cover the last 10 years of employment history where possible, and all employment breaks must be explained
patience, empathy, and a genuine commitment to supporting students with SEND
you must have legal right to work in the UK
right to work in the UK
minimal 12 month experience in the UK
proof of vaccinations/immunity
DBS Check/Update Service Check
proof of Mandatory training aligned to the Skills for Health UK CSTF standards
A full UK driving licence and access to a car to get to work
experience as a support worker in residential children's homes
experience of supporting vulnerable young people within a residential care environment, or another professional setting
you will be compassionate, resilient and committed to being a positive role model
willingness to do overnight sleep-ins as part of the role
able to do overnight sleep-ins which are part of the role
NVQ level 3 in children's health and social care or equivalent or willing to work towards

Responsibility

collaborate with teaching staff to implement individualised learning plans and provide targeted support to students with SEND
offer one-to-one or group assistance to students, adapting teaching materials and methods to accommodate diverse learning needs
work closely with teaching and specialist staff, including speech therapists and occupational therapists, to create a cohesive support network for students
working with small groups of students, under the guidance of a teacher, to deliver targeted interventions and support
monitor and document the progress of students with SEND, providing regular feedback to teaching staff and parents
supporting the teacher in the classroom to ensure a positive learning environment for all students
foster a positive and inclusive learning environment, promoting the social and emotional well-being of students
liaising with parents/carers and outside agencies as necessary to ensure the best outcomes for students
implement behaviour management strategies to ensure a safe and supportive college atmosphere
