Requirements

PIABC Level 3 Certificate in Packaging Technology is advantageous but not essential
experience in a food packaging related role
degree in STEM or equivalent experience
used to working on multiple projects with competing deadlines and challenges

Responsibility

managing multiple packaging projects from conception through to delivery, ensuring each project is completed on time and within budget
build strong relationships with suppliers, agencies and manufacturers, as well as frequent collaboration with the internal Supply Chain team
developing packaging process to fit global compliance and quality standards, taking a lead role in sustainability initiatives to become as sustainable as possible
keep up to date with new market trends in beauty and packaging to ensure target categories are innovation and ahead of the curve
driving the sustainability agenda in collaboration with the CSR & Environment Team and working with Supply Chain and Procurement
keep abreast of packaging sustainability, ethical supply routes and global sourcing developments, trends etc
source new packaging and/or suppliers in line with design briefs or procurement projects and maintain collaborative relationships
attend first off production runs at our manufacturing sites and at suppliers as required
provide technical support to Procurement on new and existing packaging sourcing requirements, identifying and actualising opportunities for cost and quality improvement
lead change control and line trials for new Packaging initiatives from Procurement, NPD or the Head of Production until completion
provide ongoing support to the New Product Development/Innovation and Portfolio Management Processes, by creating the best product solution for the consumer, help define packaging specifications, costs and ensure process capability
ensure that packaging components and specifications are consistent with third party manufacturers, machinery and quality control requirements
artwork approval for technical elements including barcodes
support product master data setups for technical elements such as BOMS
contribute to profit improvement initiatives through packaging rationalisation and other cost saving initiatives
manage, maintain and update all specifications for packaging, logistics and technical drawings across the organisation, including third party manufactured products, within the QMS system
timely delivery of all packaging, print and packing requirements for sales led projects
maintenance of a collection of packaging specifications - supplier format
optimise logistics costs with the Operations team through packaging design/sizing, stacking and formats
liaise with Operations and packing partners to optimise performance and improve productivity, reduce wastage and introduce new materials
