Requirements


  • good knowledge of tool room equipment such as milling, drilling, polishing, bench work and finishing
  • must be confident using all manual workshop machinery including Lathes, Mills and Grinding machines
  • must be confident using all manual workshop machinery CNC Mills, conventional mills and lathes and grinders
  • experience in service, maintenance, and repair of mould tools
  • qualified plastic injection mould tool toolmaker
  • experience with Injection Mould Toolmaking is essential
  • welding experience is desirable but not essential
  • apprentice trained toolmaker
  • able to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • experience with CAD will be an advantage
  • CNC or Manual machining experience
  • the ability to work as an individual and as part of a team
  • experience with injection mould tooling preferred
  • press Tool Maker either for metal and steel forms and understand different grades of steel i.e. stainless steel and alloys
  • press Tool Maker either for metal and steel forms and understand different grades of steel i.e. stainless steel thickness's and alloys
  • you will be a traditional time served apprentice trained Toolmaker or Mechanical Engineer
  • the company would consider someone with mould tool experience looking to gain experience of tooling of press tools
  • the successful Toolmaker will be working within the Toolroom division
  • used to working to precision tolerances
  • preferably a Time Served Apprentice trained in Mechanical Engineering, Manual Machinist, Toolmaker or Developing Press Tool components

Responsibility


  • work with site Manufacturing Engineers to help understand and implement tooling requirements and work alongside equipment, OEM engineers as required
  • liaise with the onsite spares integrator to ensure spares inventory reflects operational demands with minimal inventory
  • as a Skilled machinist at the TBF facility you will be responsible for making parts from Engineering drawings along with maintaining a range of tooling and fixtures within our fast-paced Turbine blade production facility
  • perform a range of routine and reactive, maintenance on tooling and fixtures across a broad range of manufacturing assets and production equipment to ensure that manufacturing equipment is safe, available and capable for use when required
  • analyse equipment data to inform and implement the most effective approach towards repair, manufacture or modification in support of Key Performance Indicators for the Manufacturing Services Department as required
  • utilise problem solving skills and abilities to make sound recommendations based on judgement, training and previous experience to identify, recommend and implement improvements
  • assist the Engineering team in the containment and resolution of customer concerns through tooling modifications and improvements
  • conduct scheduled routine preventative maintenance routines on time
  • conducting scheduled preventative maintenance tasks
  • follow up on, and rectify, concerns identified during maintenance activities
  • supporting and driving performance on all press and blanking lines that include dies
  • contribute kaizens/improvement ideas for the work group and department to reduce waste and improve efficiency
  • working independently and as part of a team to address die repair and reconditioning tasks
  • take responsibility for Health and Safety of self and others
  • engineering changes and die modifications
  • problem solutions and root-cause analysis for reliability and quality standards
  • planning your own manufacturing methods/operations and workflow to ensure the finished part is to specification
  • up to £42,000 per annum
