Requirements


  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture or a related subject and be working towards your Pathway to Chartership
  • A minimum of 3 years post qualification experience in the design, implementation and supervision of engineering & landscape design projects
  • chartered Member of the Landscape Institute with three to six years post CMLI experience
  • working knowledge and understanding of the relevant legislation, standards and procedures
  • educated at least to post-graduate level in a relevant discipline, as required to meet standards of the Landscape Institute
  • bachelor Degree and postgraduate qualification in Landscape Architecture
  • possess an extensive working knowledge of standard engineering & landscape specifications, conditions of contract and methods of measurement
  • fully chartered member of the Landscape Institute
  • ability to liaise with Clients, Stakeholders, and the public on projects
  • your availability to work either immediately, or at short notice
  • able to demonstrate recent experience in the following
  • UK driving licence would be desirable as some travel is likely to be required

Responsibility


  • design hard and soft landscape schemes in accordance with the Clients’ brief
  • manage projects on site and administer contracts, to meet specified standards and timescales and approve the works
  • to assist the Principal Landscape Architect in achieving the aims and objectives of the service
  • to arrange the necessary site investigations and data collection to obtain information so that projects can proceed
  • to assist in creating public consultation documents and arranging distribution
  • to note comments gained from the consultations and make proposed alterations as required to the original scheme
  • to work within the Landscape Architecture Team and the wider Highways and Sustainable Transport Service to deliver a professional, efficient and effective service that is good value for money
  • to work with a multi-disciplinary team of professional and technical staff including external consultants and external partners, to design and deliver a range of projects both within Highways and Sustainable Transport and for other service areas

  • to make regular site visits and, if the need arises due to site constraints, to change the design and inform the contractors, to ensure the smooth implementation of the scheme, all with due regard for contract, legal and safety matters when making such decisions
  • relevant degree or equivalent and 3+ years of experience
  • to act as the main point of contact for the Client or project sponsor and contractor as appropriate
  • the post-holder will be required to assist in the development of capital projects through implementation stages, to post implementation assessment for major projects
  • lead and manage projects from inception through to completion, ensuring they are delivered to the highest quality and standards
  • develop, manage and monitor project budgets and programmes
  • contribute to the development of conceptual designs, design development and detail design
  • produce quality documentation, drawings and specifications for tender and construction and ensure all documentations are delivered within agreed timescales
  • deliver presentations and reports to clients and other stakeholders
  • manage and mentor junior team members
