My client is looking for a Senior Principal Planning Officer to support The East Area Planning Manager to deliver a professional, cost-effective and high-quality development management service. You will be an experienced Development Management Planner; ideally you will have some experience of managing or mentoring staff. Ideally you will have presented to committees and have some experience with reviewing junior officers work.You will have experience within a Development Management service either in a senior or principal role and be ready for the next step in your career.The role includes supporting and deputising for the area manager in signing off applications and mentoring of junior staff as well as managing a small case load of applications.Deputise for the Area Planning Manager when absent.Assist in the recruitment and training of staff, allocation of work, and help agree targets, monitor progress, assess and implement training programmes and generally develop and motivate staff to perform effectively.Take an active part in the management of Development Planning and undertake projects or functions at the request of the Area Planning Manager and senior managers.
