  • social Work England registration
  • eligible to work in the UK
  • degree level or equivalent in Social Work
  • your experience working in residential care with young people
  • knowledge of Key legislation relating to children’s residential care
  • ability to build positive relationships with young people, colleagues and various stakeholders
  • degree or equivalent in social work
  • CQSW, DipSW, BA Social Work of equivalent professional qualification
  • A social Work Qualification or equivalent
  • A social work qualification or equivalent
  • current Social Work England registration
  • management qualification at least at Level 4
  • understanding of relevant legislation
  • significant frontline experience in Children’s Services
  • at least 1 years’ experience of supervising professional staff
  • continual professional development
  • appropriate and relevant post-qualification experience of children and families social work within a statutory, voluntary or independent sector organisation
  • knowledge of relevant childcare legislation

Responsibility


  • 12. To undertake service development tasks as appropriate
  • to participate in team meetings
  • 13. To familiarise themselves with departmental policies and procedures
  • to undertake Assessments within the required timescales in accordance with the Framework
  • to be responsible for the supervision of student social workers in the role of Practice Educator
  • to support other practitioners in the team through mentoring, coaching, advice, and shadowing on visits or in meetings
  • undertake work within legislative frameworks including the preparation of written statements and representations to the judiciary at Court hearings
  • to accommodate children and young people and initiate care proceedings when appropriate
  • to deliver a restorative, relational approach to practice and supervision, utilising systemic tools and interventions within the Newham Together Practice Framework
  • you will identify and assess levels of risk and need in often complex situations
  • to deliver and embed our restorative approach to building an organisational culture where social work can flourish
  • to produced quality courts statements and when required, give evidence in court on behalf of the Local Authority
  • to have responsibility for a caseload of more complex cases within the team and demonstrate appropriate initiative commensurate to the skills and knowledge required for the post consistently applying high standards to deliver good outcomes for children
  • to champion our priorities and obsessions to improve the lives of children families and care leavers
  • to work as part of a multi-agency team, ensuring integration and seamless delivery of services to service users and their carers
  • to assist and direct social care workers in assessing the needs of individuals, developing Reablement plans where appropriate,, planning individualised budgets and monitoring their progress
  • to support the Service Manager in ensuring the workload of the service is prioritised appropriately and is allocated to social care workers, making best use of their skills and capability
  • ensure risk management and adult safeguarding is effectively embedded within practice and responded to appropriately.  Be aware of any potential children’s safeguarding concerns and liaise as appropriate with Children’s Social Care Services taking into account children’s safeguarding procedure
  • to assist in the supervision and appraisal of social care workers and encourage their professional development and ensure consistent social work practice
  • act as “Safeguarding Adults Manager” in designated cases; ensuring that all aspects of the safeguarding process has been carried out and has been appropriately concluded
