applicants should have experience with welding heavy plate fabrications
average earnings in excess of £30.00 per hour
work will be based on steelwork contracts on major construction sites within the Greater London area and mainly within the City of London
welding: 3 years
fabrication: 1 year
TIG welding: 5 years
C&G Level 3 in Fabrication and Welding, or similar
experience welding plate steel, from 5-60mm
experience using pillar drills & MAG drills
experience using pillar drills
coded welder or willing to complete codings in TIG Ali/SS
experience using horizontal band saw
experience in Flux Core is desirable
experience in MIG welding

TIG welding of stainless steel and aluminium is essential
MIG welding of mild steel including multi-run
TIG welding of stainless steel and aluminium is desirable
read and interpret detailed fabrication drawings
operate electric hoists and carry out manual handling
use jigs, tools and equipment to fabricate
mark off, burn, grind, drill and use templates during fabrication
set out steel sections, assemble, tack weld in to position
complete job report cards to document work completed
interpret blueprints, drawings, and measurements to plan layouts
weld small and large components such as copper plumbing, beams, and pipelines
use specialized machinery for industrial welding and oversee machines that perform the same job
assess welded surfaces, structures and components to identify errors
follow and enforce strict safety regulations such as wearing heat-resistant gloves, protective masks, and safety shoes
must be able to Fabricate Tig and Mig weld; Mild Steel, Stainless Steel, Aluminium
this is a permanent position
38 hour week Monday to Thursday 7.30 am - 17.30 pm and Friday 7.00 am -12.00 pm
rate up to £20.00 per hour
£24.00 per hour including shift allowance
