Responsibility


  • supporting the planning and execution of testing and audits
  • providing broad support to the Heads of Design
  • champion best practices around design, accessibility and usability of content and services
  • be passionate about the practice of content design and focus of user-centred design, service design and Interaction Design
  • using your depth of experience, help to develop skill and tools to support testing and audit
  • share knowledge and expertise with your close knit and wider team
  • in this role, you will work closely with Heads of Design to ensure accessibility is maintained and promoted
  • play a significant role in running digital service assessments to ensure accessibility
  • participate and present ideas in workshops and in presentations to end users and stakeholders
  • the successful candidate will have extensive experience of working in accessibility in agile environments and to GDS standards
  • work effectively with Digital communities to champion accessibility
  • as part of a close knit multi-disciplinary team, design, develop and deliver clear, user centred content experiences that align to GDS standards and additional recognised design guidelines
  • designing and improving the end-to-end user journey to ensure the product meets the needs of users and stakeholders
  • visualises, articulates, solves complex problems and concepts, and makes disciplined decisions based on available information and research evidence
  • understanding the importance of Agile project delivery for digital projects in government and taking risks and learning from mistakes
  • communicating effectively with technical and non-technical audiences, advocating for your team, and contributing to the work of the community
  • understands users and can identify who they are and what their needs are based on evidence
  • awareness of industry standard software: Adobe creative suite, Figma, presentation software, social media platforms, animation software
  • applying and iterate new content templates and guidance to help improve travel advice for users
  • responsible for managing, coordinating the digital content offer on our public facing website and internal intranet
