  • honours degree
  • diploma or degree in Archives and Records Management, Archive Administration, Library and Archive Studies, Information Management and Preservation, or other archive professional qualification

Responsibility


  • the Community Archivist will not to act in a prejudicial or discriminatory manner towards contracted staff, volunteers and members of the public
  • the Community Archivist will attend to the health and safety of self, other people and resources whilst at work and cooperate with colleagues to comply with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974
  • day-to-day management of Queer Heritage South digital archive back-end database and other relevant data
  • appraise, manage, and catalogue the collections within the archive
  • consult and support with the development of the a new archiving and digitising strategy for Brighton LGBTQ+ Heritage across the city and coordinate with local partners and institutions
  • to work with the Marlborough Productions team to continually improve access for volunteers and audiences
  • to send email communication to members, and other interested parties
  • any other duties within the scope and general nature of the grade which may be required
  • identifying areas of collections where Data Protection legislation applies and putting appropriate measures in place to administer
  • creation of archival standard catalogues meeting international cataloguing standards through the Library’s AtoM collection management system
  • uses face to face communication regularly; team meetings, one to ones, informal discussions/chats, briefing sessions etc
  • liaise with donors and depositors of archives, documenting and recording new accessions
  • to undertake any other duties as may be reasonably required and requested by your line manager to meet the School’s priorities and demands
  • ensure the continued transfer of key School records and other items to the archive by liaising with the appropriate staff
  • we are looking for a Digital Archivist and Knowledge Manager with experience of working in a Digital Knowledge and Information environment
  • this role sits in a team that provides knowledge management, archival, search and library services to the department’s business areas
  • delivering processes of acquisition, selection, cataloguing, storage and transfer of records as part of our Digital Archive Service
