Requirements


  • must have an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one
  • must be able to provide two professional references which covers the last 24 months of work/study periods
  • some previous kitchen/catering/cafe experience would be ideal

Responsibility


  • supporting learners in all areas of their development
  • supporting the class teacher where needed
  • can adapt approach to support the specific needs of each student to a high level
  • supervising in daily routines throughout the day
  • responsible to safeguard the health and safety of pupils including upholding all risk assessments
  • providing high quality of 1:1 support for students who have Learning Difficulties and Autism
  • to clean up spillages, cleaning tables and clearing the dining area
  • to oversee children in the playground or during wet play and monitor the safety and suitability of activities
  • to lead on group games and activities to ensure that all pupils feel safe, secure and included when on the playground
  • to show initiative when developing the pastoral support of pupils on the playground, including initiating games for pupils to join into
  • to adhere to the school’s risk assessment and guidance to keep children safe and adhere to all health and safety guidelines
  • to liaise with staff around specific pupils and issues
  • to supervise pupils at mealtimes - encouraging children to eat healthily, helping infants to open packaging or cut up food, and providing some social and educational training, such as good table manners
  • to use the rewards system to celebrate good, kind and respectful behaviour
  • to care for the personal cleanliness of children
  • to maintain order, caution children who misbehave and report unresolved problems to relevant Form Teacher or Deputy Head
  • to make sure children who are ill or injured receive appropriate medical attention, and report any serious accidents
  • to carry out any such duties as may be reasonably requested
  • to supervise children using toilet facilities – giving permission to older children and accompanying infants, checking they wash and dry their hands
  • report incidents and accidents to the appropriate members of staff, ensuring the safety and well-being of pupils
