The School of Chemistry is seeking a dynamic and well organised administrator to join its Professional Services team. Based in the School's Teaching Office, the role holder will provide admin support with key teaching/School-related activities. This is an exciting opportunity to join an expanding team and work alongside colleagues in the areas of timetabling, UG admissions and examinations. The ideal candidate will be a strong team player with a good general education, preferably with a recognised admin qualification and have a sound knowledge of Word, Excel, the internet and Email. The ability to plan, organise and prioritise their workload whilst dealing with numerous interruptions is essential. Previous experience in a higher education setting would be advantageous but not essential. The successful candidate will possess exceptional attention to detail, the ability to deal with multiple tasks, issues and enquiries in various formats in a calm and efficient manner, excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both in written and spoken English) and have a pro-active and professional approach to work. The post-holder will work over 5 days (Monday-Friday). Due to the front-facing aspect of the role, the post-holder will be based on campus. This post is fixed term, for a duration of 3 months, in the first instance. The Organisational Staff Development Services (OSDS) team support the delivery of the University Strategy and the aspirations of staff throughout the University. The OSDS team drive organisational progress and change through supporting University wide initiatives and the delivery of five core employee centric services: learning, coaching and mentoring, talent and leadership development, organisational design, and employee experience and engagement. OSDS provide a comprehensive range of activities and opportunities to support all our staff in professional services, research and academia development pathways. As a unit, we aim to foster a collaborative, flexible and creative working environment, working to a common goal of world leading. We work closely and in partnership with subject matter experts in our units and schools to deliver impactful services. We are a team of 12 staff who look after the training and development needs of all the university staff whether they are researchers, academics apprentices or professional staff! We have a wide remit and this makes for an interesting cross institutional service in a fun and friendly team.
