A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is essential
proven experience in financial accounting or a similar role within the financial services sector
strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices, particularly in relation to accounts payable
proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, , or PeopleSoft is highly desirable

Responsibility

work closely with the wider fundraising team to ensure effective due diligence is- carried out on all fundraising Investments, and Fund Grants
review of finance processes and accounting treatments to maintain best practice and adherence to legislation
prepare all fixed asset schedules for audit and assist the auditors with any queries
you will be responsible for taking our clients case from its inception to resolution
giving expert evidence a large-scale case
maintaining an advanced level of technical knowledge
you will be autonomous in leading this case, applying your expert approach to formulate a strong and detailed case for our client
ensure fixed assets are correctly accounted for in line with accounting standards and government guidance
ensure fixed asset reconciliations are prepared on a timely basis with any issues resolved or escalated
provide timely, complete and accurate information to all finance customers e.g. Budget Holders
support the financial improvement project looking to improve the recording and monitoring of our capital spend and fixed assets
responsible for the administration and maintenance of the General, Project and Fixed Assets ledgers, depreciation forecasts, disposal projections, current cost asset adjustments and associated reconciliations
provide financial advice and assistance to the business for all financial accounting issues relating to fixed assets and capital expenditure
recording the cost of newly-acquired fixed assets , tracking existing fixed assets, recording depreciation, and accounting for the disposals of fixed assets
the Role of Assistant Accountant
providing VAT advice to Service Areas across the Council on the implications of any transactions they are undertaking
preparation of budget monitoring reports and provision of financial advice
prepare year-end accounts for designated services and support the preparation of Directorate outturn reports
lead on the production and external audit of year-end accounts
lead on all capital accounting including interpretation and application of accounting standards and legislation for balance sheet elements
