Requirements


  • previous experience working with animals in a professional setting is preferred
  • knowledge of basic animal care practices and procedures
  • familiarity with veterinary terminology and medical treatments is a plus
  • strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately
  • excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • comfortable with heavy lifting as some animals may require assistance
  • animal Care: 1 year
  • animal care L2 or above
  • at least two Higher qualifications with at least one in science

  • knowledge or experience in farm animal procedures, laboratory techniques and data recording

  • perform daily tasks related to the care and well-being of animals, including feeding, cleaning, and monitoring their health
  • administer medications and treatments as directed by veterinarians or supervisors
  • assist with handling and restraining animals during examinations or procedures
  • maintain accurate records of animal health, behavior, and any treatments or observations
  • clean and sanitize animal enclosures, equipment, and work areas to maintain a safe and healthy environment
  • provide enrichment activities to promote mental stimulation and socialization for animals

  • about you
  • carrying out regular observations and health checks with support from our L1 and L2 learners
  • maintain colonies of mammals and fish to required standards
  • the successful candidate should have experience in husbandry with rodents, rabbits, fish, and insects
  • to complete daily animal husbandry duties, including provision of food and water, changing cages, and maintaining high levels of hygiene for each animal, with support from our L1 and L2 learners
  • support and observe L1 and L2 learners to complete practical tasks which will be vital for their studies and completion of their qualifications
  • keeping accurate records and inputting data onto computer systems. Gather and collate data and information including monitoring of health and welfare of animals under your care for others to use for evaluation and decision making
