  • we expect the successful candidate to have experience working as an Arborist. You should be confident identifying risks and hazards and hold NPTC certificates. This will be a great role for someone who has a positive attitude and a good team spirit
  • this role would suit someone who is a qualified Arborist, Arboriculturist, Tree Surgeon or Landscaper who has started their tree surgery training. You will need to have 3 years' climbing experience and a full UK driving licence
  • personal Track Safety Certification
  • aerial Rescue Unit 206, 306 / CS38 – Demonstrated competency in aerial rescue techniques
  • cutting from a Harness / Climber Unit 204 / CS39 – Proficiency in climbing and performing tree surgery from a harness
  • chainsaw Competency – Demonstrated experience in using chainsaws in various environments, including from height
  • experience in tree surgery and working within the railway industry is highly desirable
  • full UK Driving License
  • ability to work in all weather conditions and in challenging environments
  • strong knowledge of health and safety practices, particularly in railway settings
  • high level of physical fitness due to the demanding nature of the job
  • ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • strong knowledge and experience with modern Arboriculture techniques

Responsibility


  • all aspects of general Arborist work
  • communicating with Tree Officers, General Public and Customers
  • reporting any equipment and vehicle maintenance requirements to the workshop
  • you must wear PPE at all times whilst working
  • onsite and in the yard
  • perform tree surgery tasks, including felling, crown reductions, pruning, and cutting, along railway tracks
  • safely use chainsaws and other arboricultural tools and equipment
  • carry out aerial rescue operations when necessary
  • work efficiently in a team to meet project deadlines
  • maintain and ensure the safety of all equipment used
  • coordinate and schedule projects/tasks for team members
  • collaborate with clients and team members to ensure project success and completion on time and within budget
  • monitor progress and quality of work
  • provide guidance and support to staff
  • manage inventory and equipment
  • 10) Maintain 2 way communication with the team on the ground to ensure drop zones are clear of staff and public or residents when dropping branches or debris
  • report all hazards and incidents in accordance with company policy
  • tree Climbing: Safely ascend and work within trees to prune, trim, remove, or perform other necessary tree surgery tasks
  • ground Operations: Assist climbers by providing ground support, including guiding branches and logs safely to the ground
  • rigging and Lowering: Use proper rigging techniques to control the descent of cut branches and logs to protect property and personnel
