Requirements


  • PA1 and PA6 spraying certification
  • quad Bike certification
  • trailer licence
  • brush Cutters and Strimmer’s certification
  • horticultural Qualification
  • full Driving Licence and driving in the UK
  • good communicating / interpersonal skills
  • good team worker though can work alone if required
  • physically fit as lifting and carrying are part of the role and the habitat work can be very physically demanding
  • must have full clean driving license and access to own transport
  • must be eligible and be able to show proof of right to work in the UK
  • must be willing to work additional hours/overtime if required
  • practical hand/DIY skills would be an advantage
  • PA1 & PA6 sprayer license desirable but not necessary as training will be given to the right candidate
  • experience with operating/maintaining agricultural machinery is desirable but not necessary as training will be given to right candidate

Responsibility


  • nursery maintenance and other duties
  • day-to-day tasks may vary depending on the time of year but will always include tasks such as taking care of plants - watering, weeding, pruning, spraying, picking, sorting and loading plants for delivery
  • day-to-day responsibility of spraying crops on the site
  • to identify and act upon on P&D issues
  • mix, load, and apply pesticides onto fields in accordance with label required rates and procedures
  • to have an understanding and experience of Biological controls and applications on Hardy nursery stock
  • calibrate sprayers and chemical application equipment
  • proactively identify crop issues in the field while spraying and communicate observations to line managers
  • safely operate agricultural equipment and vehicles
  • provide engaging and safe work sessions for Co-workers
  • assist in the scheduling of daily work planning to provide meaningful work experience while balancing the needs of customers
  • complete garden team contracts to a high standard, lone working with Co-workers
  • follow Garden Team daily schedule and keep accurate electronic records
  • work in line with The Trust’s values and ethos
  • maintain The Prospects Trust’s image and reputation internally and externally
  • work alongside Co-workers outdoors in all weathers
  • work onsite at Snakehall Farm
  • support the active production of crops, products and services of The Trust
  • ensure health & safety standards are met at all times and that all tools, equipment, machinery and vehicles are fit for purpose, safe to use and stored securely
  • maintain the nursery by performing various tasks such as pruning plants, watering, weeding and general nursery & irrigation maintenance. There may also be requirement for selecting plants for customers orders
