Requirements


  • blackheath Prep is an independent prep school for around 370 students aged 3 to 11
  • founded in 1996, it occupies a beautiful five-acre site close to Blackheath village
  • in April 2023 we were delighted to announce our merger with Eltham College to form a family of schools
  • the successful candidate will possess previous experience of working in a similar role and have a general knowledge of grounds maintenance
  • its original Georgian and Victorian buildings have been extended and adapted to include large playgrounds and extensive playing fields, tennis courts, cricket nets and a Forest School area
  • although not required, previous experience working within the education sector would be advantageous

Responsibility


  • to be responsible for allocated ground maintenance tasks from start to completion, including scoping the task, pricing and ordering materials, liaising with the customer, undertaking the work personally or co-ordinating and supervising others to ensure timely completion
  • to support match day operations
  • delivery of high-quality grounds maintenance service to all sites to the highest standard, in line with policies, legislative, environmental and certifying authorities’ compliance and best practice
  • grounds maintenance around all sites
  • maintenance of amenity areas surrounding the Academy
  • working with and contributing to a multi-disciplinary maintenance team
  • working between more than one dedicated site, and as required by the needs of the business
  • driving of multiple gang mowers, verti-drain machinery, tractors, subject to training and relevant certification
  • collection of litter and leaves around the building and the playing surfaces
  • weeding of all curb lines and plant beds
  • following training to carry out multiple work tasks without supervision, within limits of responsibility
  • assistance with Stadium of Light and Hetton Centre pitch maintenance as required
