  • support the Research & Development Manager to develop new market opportunities
  • overall ownership and the responsibility to look after the nurseries, its team and products
  • responsible for stock management and ensuring there are no short falls in stock
  • managing plant health and ensuring minimal plant losses, using your knowledge to identify issues before they arise
  • continuously improving the efficiency of the growing process
  • liaising with the internal teams to ensure all departments needs are met
  • line managing staff by arranging yearly appraisals, training needs and disciplinary matters
  • develop and implement maintenance procedures and ensure compliance with safety regulations
  • regularly meeting with clients to ensure their gardens are kept to a high standard
  • coordinate and schedule maintenance activities, including repairs, inspections, and preventive maintenance
  • maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, inventory, and equipment maintenance history
  • collaborate with other departments to address maintenance-related issues and ensure smooth operations
  • conduct regular inspections to identify areas for improvement and ensure proper functioning of equipment and systems
  • administrative duties including quotations, contracts, invoicing and recruitment
  • managing a team of General Assistants, setting and monitoring business objectives and overseeing customer service and overall department standards
  • be on hand to offer inspirational and expert horticultural advice to customers to increase their knowledge and confidence in the garden
