Requirements


  • upholstery sewing: 2 years
  • upholstery sewing: 3 years
  • sewing Machinist: 2 years

  • significant experience in graphic sewing or textile finishing, ideally within a production environment
  • strong ability to operate industrial sewing machines and other relevant equipment
  • meticulous in measuring, cutting, and sewing fabrics to ensure precision and consistency
  • understanding different textile types, their properties, and the appropriate handling and sewing methods
  • ability to create and work from fabric patterns or templates
  • experience in machining a variety of fabrics ranging from cottons, silks, velvets, faux leathers and leather
  • experience in operating a Walking Foot machine, Overlocking Machine, and Twin Needle Machine is essential
  • experience in fabric cutting is preferred but not essential
  • excellent teamwork and communication skills
  • positive attitude to problem-solving and continuous improvement

Responsibility


  • we supply our furniture globally to a large client base including well known blue chip retailers alongside independent retailers
  • we have opportunities for experienced Sewing Machinists to join their team based in Preston

  • to carry out production sewing tasks in line with KPI’s and maximising output
  • highlight immediately any issues affecting productivity in the first instance to Management
  • to assist the Management in implementing work culture and production plan
  • assist wherever deemed necessary by Management
  • maintain quality standards in line with the Middleton Manufacturing Ltd quality standards
  • assist with identifying areas for improvement within your dedicated area
  • to participate in the Company stock check as and when required in conjunction with the Group Buyer
  • maintain the ethos of care for our machines and products, including the maintenance and checks on machinery
  • adhere to Health & Safety measures at all times
  • accepting and progressing works orders, ensuring that expectations and deliverables are posted, shared and met
  • you will be responsible in assisting the management in maintaining the 5s to keep the factory clean, tidy and well organised always
  • ensuring that daily checks on your equipment are carried out and that scheduled maintenance and repairs are requested and completed in a manner which minimises disruption to production
  • problem solving and root cause analysis
  • maintain an excellent standard of housekeeping
  • measure, cut, and sew fabric components for exhibition stands according to design specifications and project requirements
  • collaborate with production team to review fabric requirements and timelines for each exhibition build
  • operate industrial sewing machines and other equipment to ensure precise and high-quality stitching and finishing
