Responsibility


  • preparing examination room and equipment ready for use
  • supporting the clinical team to undertake a wide variety of CT, MRI and Ultrasound examinations
  • ensuring that patients fully understand and accurately complete the relevant safety questionnaire
  • ensuring patient identification and safety checks are completed prior to every examination
  • answering patients’ queries regarding the procedure and what can be expected
  • providing chaperone support for ultrasound sessions as and when required
  • carrying out patient preparation prior to and patient care following the examination and ensure that the patient leaves the department satisfied with the standard of care provided
  • providing support to the clinical team for data input to the MIP PACS system
  • liaising with other departments regarding patient details and transport arrangements if required
  • assisting patients to get on and off the scanner and position correctly, under direct supervision of the clinical team responsible for the scanning session
  • caring for patients’ needs and attend to patients’ welfare, especially those who are elderly, disabled, confused, anxious
  • providing the clinical team with practical support during the scanning session to include setting up the correct coils for the different examinations
  • maintaining clean and tidy working areas in all clinical areas
  • undertaking stock takes and order stock as necessary
  • this role is working 30 hours per week, covering 3 x 10 hour shifts on a rota basis
  • A Radiographic Assistant will be expected to undertake a range of duties with direct supervision and will be required to communicate with the team
