Requirements

qualified Teacher Status or equivalent
experience working with students with special educational needs, particularly autism and/or learning difficulties
the passion to teach and inspire young people during a crucial stage of their personal and academic development
each student has a diagnosis of Autism and the schools students range from ages 5 to 16
knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations, including the SEND Code of Practice

qualified Teacher Status and relevant teaching qualifications
qualified Teacher Status
experience working in special education or with SEND students
experience teaching in a Primary SEND setting
passion for providing an inclusive and supportive learning environment
ability to deliver engaging and meaningful lessons
must have full GTCS registration
additional Support for Learning experience would be preferable but not essential
bachelor's degree in Education or a related field
valid teaching certification or license
previous experience working with elementary school-aged children is preferred

Responsibility

plan and teach well-structured lessons to assigned classes, following the school’s plans, curriculum, and schemes of work
adapt teaching to respond to the strengths and needs of pupils
set high expectations which inspire, motivate and challenge pupils
promote good progress and outcomes by pupils
demonstrate good subject and curriculum knowledge
participate in arrangements for preparing pupils for external tests
maintain good order and discipline among pupils, managing behavior effectively to ensure a good and safe learning environment
assess, monitor, record and report on the learning needs, progress and achievements of assigned pupils, making accurate and productive use of assessment
you will be expected to
make a positive contribution to the wider life and ethos of the school
work with others on curriculum and pupil development to secure coordinated outcomes
provide cover when necessary
SEN Teachers must be able to develop individualized education plans for each student based on their unique needs and abilities
adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the specific needs of each student
create a safe and nurturing learning environment that promotes inclusivity and diversity
collaborate with parents, caregivers, and other professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes for students
maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress and development
SEN Teachers must attend and participate in relevant meetings, professional development opportunities, and training sessions
use data to inform teaching and learning, provide feedback to students, staff and families in order to ensure progress and outcomes
manage behaviour effectively to create a safe, respectful and nurturing environment enabling students to focus on learning
