  • qualified Teacher Status or equivalent
  • experience working with students with special educational needs, particularly autism and/or learning difficulties
  • the passion to teach and inspire young people during a crucial stage of their personal and academic development

  • knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations, including the SEND Code of Practice

  • must have full GTCS registration
  • additional Support for Learning experience would be preferable but not essential
  • bachelor's degree in Education or a related field
  • valid teaching certification or license
  • previous experience working with elementary school-aged children is preferred

Responsibility


  • plan and teach well-structured lessons to assigned classes, following the school’s plans, curriculum, and schemes of work
  • adapt teaching to respond to the strengths and needs of pupils
  • set high expectations which inspire, motivate and challenge pupils
  • promote good progress and outcomes by pupils
  • demonstrate good subject and curriculum knowledge
  • participate in arrangements for preparing pupils for external tests
  • maintain good order and discipline among pupils, managing behavior effectively to ensure a good and safe learning environment
  • assess, monitor, record and report on the learning needs, progress and achievements of assigned pupils, making accurate and productive use of assessment
  • you will be expected to
  • make a positive contribution to the wider life and ethos of the school
  • work with others on curriculum and pupil development to secure coordinated outcomes
  • provide cover when necessary
  • SEN Teachers must be able to develop individualized education plans for each student based on their unique needs and abilities
  • adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the specific needs of each student
  • create a safe and nurturing learning environment that promotes inclusivity and diversity
  • collaborate with parents, caregivers, and other professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes for students
  • maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress and development
  • SEN Teachers must attend and participate in relevant meetings, professional development opportunities, and training sessions
  • use data to inform teaching and learning, provide feedback to students, staff and families in order to ensure progress and outcomes
  • manage behaviour effectively to create a safe, respectful and nurturing environment enabling students to focus on learning
