  • proficiency in accounting software, particularly Sage and Xero, is highly desirable
  • experience with accounts payable processes is essential

  • excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
  • strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to facilitate collaboration within the team
  • A background in mentoring or training junior staff is advantageous but not mandatory
  • A degree or relevant qualification in finance or accounting is preferred but not essential for candidates with substantial experience
  • management accounting: 3 years
  • must be AAT qualified and partly CCAB qualified or equivalent

Responsibility


  • stay informed about changes in financial regulations and best practices within the financial services sector
  • maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with accounting standards
  • utilise accounting software to manage transactions and maintain up-to-date records
  • preparation of revenue and capital estimates, monitoring statements and final accounts for a range of Council services
  • provision of financial advice, guidance and training to officers and members as required, including attending officer and member meetings as necessary as well as internal and external seminars on matters affecting the Authority
  • maintaining VAT records to comply with VAT legislation
  • maintenance of the Council’s VAT intranet page
  • budgetary control and monitoring of Business Unit budgets
  • contributing to the preparation of financial accounts
  • assist in the timely and accurate preparation of the annual accounts
  • assist in the ongoing review of financial analysis
  • contribution to the preparation of statutory accounts
  • comply with companies policies and procedures
  • liaising with budget stakeholders
  • this opportunity will be working closely with the Finance Manager, providing support with ad hoc project-based work, whilst assisting in the preparation of the annual budgets
