  • essential you have previous experience as a mandated mortgage underwriter within a UK financial operation
  • experience of creating loan recommendation documents and delivering them to an Executive Committee or Leadership Team is desirable
  • knowledge of the FCA/PRA regulations regarding residential mortgages is essential
  • knowledge of the Data Protection Act, Anti-Money Laundering, MCOBS and MMR is advantageous

Responsibility


  • communicating directly with introducers and applicants to discuss the decisions and seek further information/ evidence
  • managing all cases through from enquiry stage to completion in a timely and efficient manner
  • manually underwrite BTL, HMO, Multi-Unit Freehold Block, etc., applications within company lending criteria by employing logical thinking, a focus on quality and clear lending decisioning
  • build and maintain strong relationships with both external parties and internal stakeholders
  • carrying out Know Your Customer verification checks while identifying the risks attributed to the loan application including fraud and money laundering
  • keep all internal systems up to date, inclusive of effective record keeping and accurate notes
  • maintain oversight of a loan post completion and follow up on any offer conditions prior to handing the loan to collections
  • manage a pipeline of secured loan cases and prioritise accordingly
  • be vigilant when working on cases and refer where necessary to the appropriate person
  • underwrite secured loan applications within company lending criteria by making quality
  • maintain a high level of communication at all times with interested parties including brokers, applicants, surveyors and solicitors
  • lending decisions
