Responsibility
you will guide the development of Waitrose’s sourcing strategy in key own brand categories
you will also be responsible for the ongoing development and execution of our central analytics, reporting and tools
you will lead, motivate and develop a team of Strategic Range and Cluster Analysts, who are responsible for interpreting the Range and Micro Space strategy and translating this to a strategic direction for a Category Proposition Group and working in conjunction with the Ranging Managers to deliver the strategy and direction working alongside and supporting the Range Analyst and Space Planners
working alongside cross-functional teams, you will have the primary ownership across all elements of a VCA project including scoping, planning, analysis, supplier engagement, internal engagement and presentation of findings and recommendations on sourcing strategy to senior managers and the commercial leadership team
working in partnership with Trading, you will coordinate tenders, and negotiate and develop complex buying models / long term agreements with Waitrose’s biggest suppliers
creating and developing our analytics suite of data for all levels of the Space, Range and Formats team; from a management scorecard, tracking and measuring our KPIs, to our layout group level reporting
leverage a comprehensive range of quantitative and qualitative data sources to extract actionable insights and inform strategic decision-making regarding store format optimization
you will be responsible for offering guidance and constructive feedback to the entire VCA team, while also facilitating strategic sourcing transformations throughout the VCA project portfolio
Requirements
strong people management experience
strong technical/commercial experience and proven ability in delivering strong results
experience in food retail or food manufacturing / supply
A range of operational omni-channel experience in retail teams
complex data and analytics
packaging expertise
advanced skills in evaluating and interpreting data, coupled with experience in delivering work that has shown significant influence
industry recognised Customer Experience accreditation
