  • prior experience working in a team
  • A general understanding of electrical power distribution systems
  • the role requires advanced knowledge and experience in Electrical engineering equivalent to Degree level
  • awareness of Agile and Kanban techniques
  • you have a deep knowledge of UNIX / Linux internals including Linux Kernel, shell scripting and command line tools
  • you have experience with OCaml
  • you have strong troubleshooting skills and knowledge of profiling / debugging tools such as gdb, perf, DTrace, or SystemTap
  • you're collaborative and have excellent communication skills
  • you're degree educated in Computer Science or similar technical discipline
  • you have practical experience with modern Linux systems and systems programming concepts like C, sockets, virtual memory and the process life cycle
  • A minimum of 2-4 years of experience in a network administration or systems engineering role
  • prior experience with Wireless Network technologies not required but highly desired
  • previous experience working with systems configuration, training, and implementation
  • knowledge of broadcast or data center infrastructure installations including power, environmental, and space layout considerations
  • responsibility for the EUC environment comprising physical & cloud workstations, fixed & mobile telephony, unified comms, email & messaging
  • strong written and verbal communication skills

Responsibility


  • work with Program & Product Management teams to create high-level specifications
  • support work required to deliver Systems development and/or verification activities against customer requirements as directed by the team lead
  • provide leadership in the delivery of DSR updates through the application of process, domain knowledge and experience
  • experience of the Systems lifecycle
  • perform system studies and simulations using appropriate tools to validate Digital Energy algorithms
  • contributing to the new/updated design of a system architecture
  • analyse market trends and requirements to propose new developments in Digital Energy products
  • support the creation & execution of Systems verification artefacts to ensure requirements are correctly met
  • plan for effective project implementation, identifying key factors and leading the project's technical planning process
  • author technical papers and present materials at tradeshows and conferences for innovative products

  • there are current projects around deployment automation, scalable configuration management and systems monitoring; you'll seek to automate wherever possible
  • as an Automation Engineer you'll join a small, highly talented team that focuses on the critical Linux based infrastructure underlying the businesses' technology to maintain and improve the production trading systems
  • this is a varied, highly technical role, on a typical day you could be debugging Linux Kernel performance, developing management tools or resolving production issues in real-time, diving into tricky technical issues
  • collaborating with colleagues in Trading, Technology and Operations you'll develop custom monitoring tools, strive to resolve system issues quickly and efficiently, performing root cause analysis and integrating long term fixes
