Requirements


  • HNC/Level 4 Qualification in an Engineering related subject, for example GIS, remote sensing, surveying/geomatics or a related field (e.g
  • civil engineering, electrical/electronic engineering, computing science, physics, physical geography, Earth sciences)
  • alternatively, candidates may possess significant vocational experience, demonstrating development through progressively more demanding, relevant roles
  • advanced working knowledge of GIS and remote sensing techniques, and other forms of geospatial surveying
  • desirable
  • first Aid at Work qualification. Training will be provided if required
  • GVC / A2CofC drone qualifications. Training will be provided if required
  • fork lift truck driving qualification. Training will be provided if required

Responsibility


  • performing a range of data investigation, preparation, loading and processing tasks
  • including determining data loading requirements, creating scripts for loading data into databases both geo-spatial and statistical, undertaking the load
  • quality controlling both the process and loaded data
  • conduct data processing tasks for new and existing services, including data conversion between different formats and updating service data
  • creation of new derived datasets from existing source data, including creating appropriate documentation and quality assurance
  • investigate new methods of data delivery and data visualisation
  • supporting the work of EDINA by providing GIS skills and knowledge in both desktop and server environments
  • undertaking a range of data management tasks including metadata creation, quality control, assist in writing technical documentation covering data and data processing and quality assurance
  • any other duties within the scope and general nature of the grade which may be required
  • keeps fellow team members up to date with progress
