Job details Posted 03 October 2023 Salary£50k - 75k per year LocationCambridgeshire Job type Permanent DisciplineMechanical Engineering ReferenceHDA_SMDE2 Senior Mechanical Design Engineer South Cambridgeshire £50,000 - £75,000 It is believed that a very large number of households have a bike, but compared to many other places around the UK, in Cambridge they actually use them. Cambridge has the highest level of cycling of any town in the UK, beating Oxford and York by a significant margin. In the spring, which is out of university term, this counts cyclists crossing the River Cam and is some 20,000 per day. In the autumn a count is taken of cyclists entering or leaving the city from surrounding villages and that is around 7,000 per day. This somewhat underestimates the numbers using cycles each day on other roads; some of the main roads have 4,000+ cyclists per day. During your role as Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will have the opportunity to be extremely hands on with innovative product design of electric bikes, getting the chance to have your designs come to life through 3D printing, injection moulding and CNC machining. You will be able to support with the full product cycle, taking new products from cradle to grave. You will be able to collaborate closely with multiskilled engineers within the business, having the opportunity to also learn from them as well as get involved with what they do too. This gives you the chance to get involved in the electronic and software aspects of the products being manufactured. All products are manufactured in house, really giving you an insight to the whole manufacturing process, seeing your conceptual design come to fruition right in front of your eyes. As always, it’s important to have a look at the technical requirements, to make sure this is a role you’d be comfortable with: Technical skills: Finite E
