Requirements


  • working with looked after children/foster children: 1 year
  • creative psychotherapy: 2 years
  • A professional qualification in a relevant field e.g. child/adolescent/family or creative arts therapies, psychotherapy, psychology or social work
  • A counselling diploma
  • registration with a relevant professional body i.e. UKCP, BACP, BPS, UKCP or HCPC
  • extensive knowledge of trauma-informed care and attachment theory
  • strong understanding of the unique challenges faced by foster children from diverse ethnic backgrounds
  • experience in working sensitively with confidential material
  • excellent communication and report-writing skills
  • experience in electronic record keeping and data base use
  • this role would pay £40 per session for individual counselling, and £55 per session for couples/ family counselling
  • the successful candidate would be provided with client referrals as well as a comfortable working environment including reception, administrative support, a lovely counselling room, therapeutic tools, tea and coffee
  • A masters level degree or equivalent Level 7 qualification in Counselling or Psychotherapy

Responsibility


  • the post holder will contribute to wider service development as well as the smooth delivery of complex mental health services. This will include audit and research within the area served by Psychological Medicine
  • team members are self-employed and are commissioned to undertake specific pieces of assessment and intervention
  • we are looking for an experienced Creative Therapist with a good understanding of the sensory world of the children, to work with children/young people and their carers
  • work is likely to include undertaking clinical support to the children and young people as well as their carers and to the professional network, as well as undertaking a specialist assessment of the child or young person and offering direct intervention
  • you will have a passion for working with the most vulnerable young people, with young people and adults with children and young people who have experienced trauma
  • you will understand how to work both directly and indirectly to support the network around young people and will join an organisation that is determined to offer bespoke, individualised and psychologically informed care

  • professional: Comply with relevant professional ethical standards, report professionally to the Clinical Director, and contribute to the team's clinical governance arrangements
  • organisational: Contribute to the team’s clinical and care governance arrangements, operational planning, and service development
  • to complete comprehensive assessment for clients referred for psychological therapy
  • to clearly communicate this plan with clients, the multidisciplinary staff team and were appropriate family members
  • to exercise professional responsibility for the assessment and treatment of clients in line with clinical guidance and service policies
  • to demonstrate a high degree of professional autonomy in the implementation of clinical assessments, treatment and evaluation
  • to manage own specialist caseload effectively to minimise waiting times and ensure treatment delivery remains accessible and convenient
  • to develop and share cognitive behavioural formulations with the client, staff involved in their care and where relevant their family members
  • to use information gathered during assessment to formulate and implement disorder specific individualised interventions, based upon NICE recommendations, including specific cognitive behavioural models for individuals experiencing a first episode of psychosis, bipolar disorder or for those at risk of developing a first episode of psychosis
