Responsibility


  • provide high-quality clinical care for inpatients
  • manage a caseload of 14-16 patients
  • work autonomously and contribute to teaching sessions
  • collaborate with a well-established multi-disciplinary team which includes OT, psychologist, visiting GP, physical health practitioner and RMNs
  • participate in an on-call rota
  • take clinical responsibility for patients, including multidisciplinary ward rounds, risk reviews, strategic reviews and the development of a therapeutic milieu
  • work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team to ensure that patients have access to appropriate treatment
  • management of complex cases
  • review referrals and determine appropriateness for admission
  • ensure that people admitted are assessed, treated, and discharged safely
  • to be a member of the Medical Directorate advising on psychiatric and medical issues within the unit
  • take overall responsibility for patient treatment plans in conjunction with the MDT
  • senior clinical advisory role to sites on clinical matters and clinical strategy across Pinhoe View, Woodmill and The Copse
  • ensuring an adequate handover to colleagues including out of hours
  • acting as a Responsible Clinician / Consultant Psychiatrist for a number of inpatients supported by 2.4 WTE Consultant Psychiatrists
  • review referrals and determine appropriateness for admission in a timely manner
  • providing RC input to inpatients in specialist services
  • undertaking psychiatric assessments of patients referred to your unit to determine an appropriate care pathway
  • work effectively with colleagues to ensure that service users have access to appropriate medical cover
  • contribute to service development by participating in Clinical Governance activities such as Quality Improvement projects, audits, research, and teaching
