Responsibility


  • part 3 of the Register
  • promote health and wellness
  • provide the business with accurate reporting on heath metrics
  • introducing programmes to support the wider health and wellbeing of the workforce
  • advising employers on preventing or minimising exposure of workers to hazardous agents - such as noxious chemicals or excessive noise
  • undertaking 'stress audits’
  • helping compliance with other health and safety regulations, including duties to report occupational injuries and diseases under RIDDOR
  • carrying out specific assessments to determine fitness for work in safety-critical environments - such as fork lift driving, food safety and clinical healthcare
  • performing statutory health surveillance where this is required by law, such as when workers may be exposed to hazardous substances, noise or vibration
  • to work in a timely way to support Operational Productivity
  • working in close collaboration with HR and H&S. Attending meetings as required including HR sickness meetings and health and safety meetings
  • conduct Health Assessments, reporting on the outcomes within agreed timescales and to agreed standards, policies and procedures and NMC guidelines
  • to be able to work closely with HR and health and safety and other OH partners in order to provide an efficient and cost effective service to the business
  • completing and documenting scheduled and random drugs & alcohol tests
  • documenting all employee injuries and illnesses within the workplace
  • serving as a gatekeeper for healthcare services and making referrals where necessary
  • monitoring the health status of workers
  • overseeing regular health surveillance of workers to ensure the early identification of ill health and identification of any corrective actions required
  • completion of return to work assessments as and when required
  • manage health records, ensuring confidentiality
