Requirements


  • 5 A*-C GCSE’s or equivalent is an essential requirement for this role
  • good communication and organisational skills, customer service, keen on learning and ICT skills are equally important to this role
  • the successful candidates should preferably hold a Degree in Library Science or Information Management or be experienced in working in Higher Education libraries
  • good knowledge of Cataloguing with MARC21, classification, experience in working with stakeholders such as EBSCO, enthusiasm, and passion for promoting literacy, are essential

Responsibility


  • assist patrons with inquiries and provide excellent customer service
  • manage library resources and maintain order in the library
  • utilize library management systems and demonstrate strong IT skills
  • assist in reader development and promotional activities including story reading and rhyme time activities with children of all ages
  • this is an on-campus role. It is not suitable for regular remote working

  • the above list of responsibilities may not be exhaustive, and the post holder will be required to undertake such tasks and responsibilities as may reasonably be expected within the scope and grading of the post
  • maximise accessibility of physical collections through timely and accurate shelving and shelf tidying, and take responsibility for stock and circulation tasks, e.g. reservation processing, stock relegation, book and article requests
  • this post will be offered on an indefinite contract
  • identify and resolve or escalate issues regarding building and maintenance, health and safety, security and wellbeing ensuring the library space is safe, clean & tidy, referring more complex situations to a manager or stakeholders
  • this role is based Service Design & Delivery, which is responsible for designing and delivering services for Libraries & Collections that enhance the experience for individuals from across the King’s community
  • libraries & Collections comprises four departments: Education & Learning, Research & Impact, Service Design & Delivery, along with Business Operations
  • administer the lifecycle of books acquisitions, journal and e-resource subscriptions
  • liaising with Library colleagues, contribute to the maintenance and development of library systems supporting acquisitions and access
  • work on the implementation of the Library resources by cataloguing and classifying printed material using MARC21 and LC classification system
  • provide IT Support to students when needed
