Requirements


  • experienced in working in a joinery manufacturing environment
  • joinery: 1 year
  • carpentry: 1 year
  • foreman/Woman Fitter/Fabricator: 3 years
  • time served in the fabrication of architectural metalwork
  • fabricating in architectural metalwork: 7 years
  • the ability to communicate and pass your fabrication knowledge onto our trainee fabrication staff and to be able to help with their development
  • for immediate start for a permanent PAYE position
  • work will be based on steelwork contracts on major construction sites within Greater London and mainly within the City
  • must have relevant experience and be competent in structural steelwork and heavy plate fabrication
  • applicants should hold a current CSCS card
  • average earnings in excess of £30.00 per hour
  • proven experience as an Aluminium Fabricator or similar role
  • proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings and blueprints
  • strong knowledge of aluminium properties, characteristics, and fabrication techniques
  • familiarity with welding techniques, such as MIG and TIG welding
  • ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • certification in welding or metal fabrication
  • experience working with a variety of metals, including steel, aluminum, and stainless steel
  • familiarity with computer-aided design software for interpreting engineering drawings

Responsibility


  • monitor and maintain safe and quality working practices
  • mentoring our trainee fabricators and passing your skills and knowledge on to our developing team. Fabrication and welding of architectural metalwork products, in mild steel, stainless steel and aluminium ranging from 1mm to 20mm thick
  • operating and maintaining various tools and equipment, such as cutting machines, grinders, and welding machines
  • reading and interpreting ship design plans, blueprints, and technical drawings to understand the specifications for the construction of aluminium vessels
  • cutting, shaping, and assembling aluminium components and structures according to the design requirements using specialized tools and equipment
  • aluminium Fabricators are urgently required for a rapidly growing shipyard based in the Wales, UK, initially a 6-month contract, plus extensions foe the right candidates
  • working within a busy aluminium boat building environment, you will be required to prepare and assemble metal components for welding into the new boat
  • installing and fitting out various systems and components
  • conducting inspections and quality checks to ensure that the construction process meets industry standards, safety regulations, and project specifications
  • interpret engineering drawings and specifications to determine materials and fabrication requirements
  • perform metal preparation tasks such as cutting, grinding, and sanding to ensure proper fit and finish
  • operate machinery including shears, press brakes, rollers, and saws to shape and form metal components
  • weld and fabricate metal parts using various welding techniques such as MIG, TIG, and arc welding
  • inspect finished products to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications
  • troubleshoot and resolve issues related to fabrication processes or equipment
  • maintain a clean and organised work environment to ensure safety and efficiency
  • collaborate with other team members and departments to achieve production goals and deadlines
  • precision Fabrication: Accurately measure and fabricate pipe spools to a high tolerance of ±2mm
  • blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret isometric pipe plans to fabricate components to specification
  • independent Working: Work without assistance to tack up all pipework, ensuring high-quality fabrication
