Digital Fashion Technician Glasgow
We are offering an exciting opportunity to join Glasgow School of Art’s well-regarded Technical Team in a new role supporting and developing Digital Fashion. You will have significant experience using industry-standard 3D virtual clothing software such as CLO3D, an excellent understanding of digital and physical garment construction workflows and the ability to share this knowledge with students. You will bring experience of delivering engaging technical training and producing accessible learning resources. You will collaborate with the academic team to develop and deliver CLO3D workshops to undergraduate and postgraduate fashion design students, and you will work closely with students to help them experiment with processes and prepare high-quality digital imagery to support the realisation of their designs. You will be working as part of the Fashion team, which includes specialist technicians in pattern cutting and garment construction. Our Fashion workshop is well-resourced, and the team work closely with the Textile workshop team. Technician – Casting (0.4FTE) Technical Support Department ,Stow & Haldane Buildings, Glasgow Grade 5 £30,487 - £34,980 per annum (pro rata) 14 Hours Per Week 6 month fixed term contract We are seeking a casting technician who will enjoy working in a creative and dynamic educational environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for the casting workshops at the Haldane and Stow buildings, which incorporates various casting and ceramic techniques to support students and researchers working across the schools of GSA e.g. slip casting, lost wax, mould making (epoxy, clay, plaster, silicone, gelatine and other organic alternatives), casting pewter amongst other materials. You will support and maintain a welcoming and accessible community workshop responsive to student needs while ensuring compliance with health and safety guidelines and best practice, passing on your skills and developing new areas of work. The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Creative Campus Workshop which incorporates woodworking, laser cutting and digital prototyping equipment to support students and researchers working in Design Innovation.
