Responsibility
- delivering the services in line with the contract requirements and to the satisfaction of the client and their customers
- responsible for ‘on the day’ delivery of all works within the project bid in a Safe, Quality and On Time manner
- establish excellent working relationships with scheduling and commercial teams to improve Depot outputs thus contributing to the success of our Contract

- ensure any SHE incidents are thoroughly investigated, reports and information collated and learning shared across the team and business
- support Depot team to achieve income and gross margin targets
- stakeholder management within the customer base at operational level
- build a strong, collaborative working relationship with the Client through DRAB meetings and regular discussion about the work, workstack and budget
- carry out effective pre-works planning, on-site supervision, and value capture
- you will be empowered to take corrective action at any stage to ensure the best possible outcome
- responsible for the day to day Health & Safety of directly employed staff and Supply Chain Partners
- you will be responsible for creating a safe working environment with a zero-harm culture, ensuring teams are trained as appropriate and sufficient governance in place to ensure all health and safety checks are completed within required timescale and quality
- be responsible for the day to day running of your Depot by providing line management to our key team as well as Operatives, this includes setting clear performance objectives, undertaking periodic reviews and ensuring Our Ways of Working meets both company and contractual standards
- manage HA stakeholders and attend relevant Streetworks meetings as and when required
- line-manage Operatives setting clear performance objectives for your team. Deliver regular TBTs and safety briefings ensuring good communication exists between Operatives, Supervisors, Area Managers and across the contract
- support the implementation of MiLife within the Depot
- leading by example to create a cohesive and effective team who work together to deliver the work, safely and to time and cost
- demonstrate a structured and consistent approach to the Supervision of all Field Operatives across both Flex and Civils whether they are Direct Labour or Sub-Contractor resources
- feedback risk to the management team in line with our KPI’s and strategy
- take ownership for safety, health, environmental and quality compliance for your team and within the depot. Promote excellent Safety standards and ensure Hazards, Near Misses and Incidents are reported and reviewed
- monitor team performance and output ensuring benchmark standards are met and inspection test plans followed
- to ensure all work allocated is appropriately programmed, planned, supervised and executed in accordance with specifications, drawings, dimensions and within agreed commercial limits
- ensure your Depot is fully compliant with all Health, Safety, Environmental and Welfare legislation and ensure Quality and Best Practise standards achieved by promoting the use of ITPs, benchmarks, Company Procedures, safety briefing and effective communication
- ensure all Operatives & Visitors are inducted at local Depots and work locations. Carry out site briefings when necessary
- ensure completion dates are entered accurately and in a timely way immediately after completion for all works through the Depot
- working collaboratively & in line with MTS/OR policies
- continual focus on operational gross margins of all work that you are delivering, from the pre-works planning stage, to on-site supervision - through effective management, you will always get the best from your teams
- agree, set and monitor performance objectives in terms of time, cost, safety and quality programme
- embed works mobile and whereabouts adherence with our supply chain
- provide direction and governance through the supply chain to deliver improvements in line with any agreed Streetworks, quality or safety improvement plans
- ensure supplier resource, commitments are in place as per works volume, business critical items
- understand the Contract in both Option E and Option A arrangements and work with the Client to help manage their budget and deliver a great service to Hampshire Highways
- you will be empowered to take corrective action at any stage to ensure the best possible outcome and work closely with the client to ensure their needs are met
- ensure a regular timetable of internal communication with staff and operatives for which you are responsible
- liaise with the Transport Manager to ensure vehicles are available and safe working order
- work closely with the Commercial team to ensure you understand your numbers published weekly in the depot Cost & Value report and be prepared to outline key challenges and opportunities for improvement
- mentor apprentices under our apprenticeship scheme
- work with the wider team to ensure works are correctly planned, communicated, materials ordered and resources available to deliver first time and avoid conflicting priorities
- order necessary materials, tools and consumables for the crews
- review quality of proposed fibre build designs identifying changes that can be made to improve efficiency and cost of build
- approve operative timesheets
- be part of the standby rota for Winter Maintenance Service and/or Emergency response service. Support the business in the delivery of these services
- flexible in all types of work including covering other supervisors and supporting other Depots when required
- to ensure all work carried out is in accordance with local operational procedures and Milestone policies by ensuring all work instructions have target cost/budget estimate and that any changes to work requests are formally recorded

- excellent organisational and time management skills with demonstrable experience of successfully managing conflicting priorities
- NRSWA accredited
- A proven track record of working at a Senior Supervisory level within the Telecoms Industry or other similar utilities would be advantageous
- A basic knowledge of fibre surveying is desirable
- commercially driven with the ability to identify value add and how operational performance contributes to overall business performance whilst simultaneously considering client expectations and value for money
- the ability to remain flexible, embrace change and help deliver business led changes and initiatives in a positive manner
- experience working on fibre builds at an operative level with N23 accreditation would be a great advantage
