Requirements


  • electrical Engineering degree
  • at least 5 years' experience as lead engineer in front end engineering and detail engineering
  • membership of recognised engineering institution
  • owner experience in working with EPCM contractors
  • demonstrated experience in delivering a complex large engineering scope in a complex, multi-stakeholder brownfield site with continuously operated process facilities
  • experience of capital projects and operations within highly regulated and high hazard industries
  • accredited degree or global equivalent in a relevant Engineering discipline
  • professional accreditation in your field of Engineering
  • minimum 8 years of experience in a similar position
  • experience delivering National Grid and/or Scottish Power Networks projects
  • ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and other stakeholders
  • job-related technical knowledge necessary to complete the project
  • ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and efficient manner
  • ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable county, province, and national statutes and guidelines

Responsibility


  • responsible for the delivery performance of electrical design and engineering of projects
  • ensures effective technical coordination with EPCM, internal team and third-party representatives
  • conduct studies to determine the requirements of new/modified facilities, equipment, and systems
  • ensure the relevant specification documents are prepared in adherence to procedures
  • lead dialogue with external parties including equipment vendors
  • managing change control, close out of hazard study items, addressing TQs and open issues
  • engaging with the key functions including operations, quality, supply chain etc such that the design meets their expectations
  • ensure other relevant Health & Safety risk assessments are conducted and closed out in a timely manner
  • technical expert for electrical discipline, providing electrical engineering direction for major engineering projects and programmes
  • input into key front end project deliverables such as concept selection & justification, basis of design and basis for estimate documents
  • active contribution to the wider Engineering team, participating in development and implementation of engineering strategy in support of the business
  • support development of CAPEX project scopes to maintain the aging electrical infrastructure on site
  • identify the appropriate application of Industry engineering codes, standards, practices, and design guides for CAPEX projects
  • provide technical expertise within their discipline and inspire project teams to perform, innovate and deliver sustainable design solutions
  • coordinate design interfaces between all relevant project stakeholders through concept and detailed design packages
  • ensure engineering assurance is undertaken in accordance with the EMP and client requirements
  • identification and control of engineering design change
  • preparing scope, schedule, and other technical documents for RFP processes
  • chair and/or attend relevant governance, technical, and progress meetings with client and project stakeholders
  • ensure the responsibilities under CDM 2015 for Principal Designer are discharged in accordance with the regulations
