  • HND/ HNC Mechanical OR Electrical Engineering
  • experience ideally working within a rail service and maintenance environment
  • relevant experience in rolling stock test & commissioning
  • experience using measuring instruments such as multimeters, recorders, etc
  • able to write detailed test reports
  • flexible, and able to adapt to changing circumstances, and provide solutions in a climate of continuous improvement
  • excellent organisational and time-management skills
  • planning and execution of verification and validation of digital communications equipment
  • knowledge of cryptographic systems and associated security functions
  • educated in Mechanical Engineering
  • expertise in test software scripting using Python, C and tcl
  • understanding of end-to-end digital communication systems
  • experience in testing, writing test protocols and reports
  • troubleshooting and debug of FPGA-based equipment

  • familiarity with VHDL used in FPGA design
  • ability to read engineering drawings
  • working on multiple projects at one time

Responsibility


  • review, understand and improve the Test and Validation team processes and procedures
  • this will involve working with HRJ, HRI, and suppliers
  • responsible for the design, specification, execution, and reporting of the Project Validation that validates the design is right, and the design and specification of Routine Testing and Commissioning that validate every train is built correctly
  • research the train requirements and the train/component/train equipment design to identify the Project Validation requirements and the Routine Test and Commissioning requirements
  • identify and seek appropriate additional support/expertise when necessary
  • develop and use wide networks across the business/OEMs the research different approaches to validation and select the best approach for each project. This will involve working with HRJ, HRI and suppliers
  • support the execution of series Routine Testing and Commissioning through training, reviewing implementation and checking results
  • develop strategies/specifications for Project Validation, Routine Testing and Commissioning, working closely with stakeholders, including HRUK Engineering, NoBo, HRUK Safety and Approvals, to agree the approach
  • the planning, co-ordination of resources, execution and analysis of Project Validation , including routine testing and commissioning of pre-series trains
  • develop Routine Testing and Commissioning procedures to ensure validation is repeatable and consistent as early in the product lifecycle as practical. Where necessary, support training of staff in these procedures
  • author Project Validation test reports
  • effectively manage several projects simultaneously
  • conduct and/or direct Battery Pack performance and validation tests
  • diagnose and fix a range of faults on both diesel engine and machine
  • work with program team and test facilities to develop test plans to meet Technical and Product Objectives
  • work from engineering drawings
  • conduct and/or direct checking data quality, test result integrity and repeatability
  • plan validation activities to ensure customer and business needs are met in alignment with the overall project plans, objectives and schedules
  • ensure projects relating to processes, facilities, equipment, cleaning, and CSV/IT validation are in compliance with regulatory and company requirements
  • provide specialist knowledge on validation of; process, facility, equipment, cleaning and application of computer software used within production and service
