Requirements

previous experience in a similar role – 5 years experience desirable
understanding of permit systems
minimum of three years of experience as a Bargemaster or in a similar maritime role
valid Master Mariner Certificate or equivalent certification
in-depth knowledge of maritime regulations, safety protocols, and navigation procedures
experience in transporting heavy cargo, especially rock armour or similar materials
strong leadership and communication skills
willingness to work flexible hours to suit tides and weather
ability to make sound decisions in high-pressure situations
physically fit and able to perform duties on board a floating barge
familiarity with coastal waters and navigation around the UK
strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
