Comment on the job position of safety engineer

Requirements

ideally CTC/SC or must be eligible to go through SC clearance
substantial experience in a related engineering position with on-site experience
A working knowledge of Functional Safety standards IEC 61508 / 61511 and their application in high-hazard industries
experience of effectively completing analysis of data, reports and legislation
A track record of using analysis of data to inform decision making
confidence in making presentations and public speaking
the ability to balance conflicting priorities and meet personal and directorate targets within a fluctuating and demanding workload
safety Engineering Management experience - leading a small team with delivery objectives
able to improve safety culture within an organisation, working with stakeholders
formal qualifications in Safety / Health and Safety
goal Structuring Notation
an appropriate further education engineering or other qualification
A confident, clear and effective communicator with the ability to adjust communication style to meet the needs of different audiences
full current UK driving licence
experience of undertaking public consultation and report writing
ability to both contribute and work harmoniously in a team situation and to work effectively on own initiative within defined parameters/deadlines
willing to enrol in a professional development programme working towards a professional qualification
minimum of 12 months recent experience in a similar role, or context and ideally within a public sector organisation
ability to identify appropriate and relevant data sources and to collate, analyse and interpret that data, including statistical and financial analysis
experience of the application of design guidance and implementing best practice

Responsibility

may be required to work evenings, weekends and occasional public holidays, in order to meet service requirements
initially this will include working alongside an on-site Functional Safety Consultant who will provide support and guidance
