  • the Payroll Clerk will support the Payroll Managers in processing employee payroll and provide efficient and confidential administrative support to the payroll team and employee
  • the individual will work with the wider payroll team to ensure timely and accurate payroll processing and support employees with any questions that may arise
  • experience of processing multiple payrolls independently
  • up to Date payroll software experience
  • practical Auto Enrolment knowledge and experience
  • ability to hit the ground running and have excellent organisational skills
  • excellent administration and communication skills
  • previous experience of working in a Payroll environment with high volume
  • knowledge of financial and payroll legislation
  • demonstrable experience of reconciliation processes
  • comprehensive knowledge of payroll systems

Responsibility


  • ensuring department email inboxes are clear and up to date and all items processed and filed correctly
  • processing payroll information within the agreed timescales
  • liaise with resources departments / roster clerks to manage missing or incomplete information
  • produce ad hoc data / reports
  • monitor sickness and calculate sick pay / statutory sick pay
  • issue SSP1 forms
  • monitor and calculate maternity pay
  • issue letters to employees in regards to sickness records
  • monitor annual leave records- reaching out to managers in regards to employees either not taking annual leave or over taking
  • act as a point of contact for payroll queries
  • assist with the implementation of new procedures or controls
  • provide support with ad hoc tasks
  • report this job
  • maintain accurate payroll information including processing of new employees, leavers and amendments to existing employee records
  • ensure employees are accurately paid for holiday pay, SSP, Maternity pay and expenses
  • ensure payroll is processed and employees are paid accurately in line with payroll deadlines
  • ensure that correct returns are made to HMRC and the pension provider
  • quickly resolve any issues that arise relating to payroll processing including liaising with HMRC and Pension Providers
  • ensure all payroll procedures are documented and kept up to date with any changes
  • keep up to date with any changes in legislation relating to remuneration of staff
